GREENCHEM – Network of Centres of Vocational Excellence in Green and Digital Chemistry

Overview

The goal of GreenChem is to establish a Platform of Centers of Vocational Excellence in Sustainable Chemistry that will support existing regional skills ecosystems by focusing on curriculum reform, open and flexible training, and applied research, as well as bridging gaps between the chemical industry and vocational education and training (VET).

This project brings together industry representatives, VET providers, and higher education and research institutions, along with policymakers from 10 different countries. Its primary goal is to update job profiles and reform VET chemistry curricula to adapt to the green and digital transitions, fostering competencies in green chemistry while leveraging digital technologies. Another goal is to promote flexible and market-adapted VET and upskilling by developing open educational resources. The project also aims to strengthen the knowledge triangle by developing applied research modules that will bring industrial and academic research in sustainable chemistry into VET training, as well as fostering green entrepreneurship in the chemical sector through startup incubation and coaching.

GreenChem addresses European challenges and priorities by aligning chemistry education with the green and digital transitions, developing training materials that focus on the most urgent and relevant topics in sustainable chemistry and the necessary skills for a resilient industry. The project will foster regional and national specific strategies and priorities in VET
