Bit The Spectrum – Extended Reality for students with ASD

Overview

The BIT THE SPECTRUM project brings together the experience and knowledge of experts in new technologies and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) to improve the quality of the teaching process for students belonging to this group.

The project has trained teachers who work with these students, special education teachers, and ICT developers. A number of activities have been implemented to develop innovative and interactive blended learning on these topics. A Human-Centred Design methodology has been designed to enable teachers to develop their own therapies and exercises using Extended Reality (Augmented and Virtual Reality). In addition, a set of 20 Augmented Reality exercises and 9 Virtual Reality exercises have been developed following our methodology. These exercises have been carried out in special education centres for Education and Vocational Training to test the impact on students in relation to literacy and social and emotional skills.
